# Sequence Block

> One card rank is blocked each game. Its eight board spaces cannot take chips or count toward a Sequence.

Sequence Block is a free Sequence mode played against the Block Crusher AI. The win condition is the same as classic Sequence (two five-in-a-row Sequences), but one rank is walled off.

## How it works

1. Open Sequence and choose **Sequence Block**.
2. One rank (2 to 10, queen, king or ace) is picked at random and shown as **Blocked** above the board. Jacks are never blocked.
3. All eight spaces of that rank are blocked. They cannot take chips, not even from a two-eyed jack.
4. Cards of that rank are taken out of the deck.
5. Blocked spaces do not count toward a Sequence; build around them.
6. Complete two Sequences before the Block Crusher to win.

## Block vs classic Sequence

Same win condition, jacks, free corners and dead-card swaps. The difference is eight walled-off spaces and a smaller deck. Full classic rules: [How to play](https://sequence.stratzagames.com/how-to-play.md).

## Tips

- Before your first move, find the lines with no blocked space; those are your lanes.
- A blocked space next to an opponent's line is a free block for you.
- Aim corner lines at open lanes.
- Cross two lines in an open area to make two threats at once.
